This poem is by Jack Kerouac. The structure is simple, one history or art event and then the phrase "in vain". From there the title. I understood that trough the time there has been a lot of important events but in now in the present they doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is the present.
Another way of understanding this poem is thinking of forgetting. Like we had forgotten about important events in history, that changed our ideals or way of thinking. It may criticizes that aspect of the society.
¿Título? ¿Qué es eso?

Mexico City Blues
This is a song by Jack Kerouac. At the beginning we can imagine that the person lived in a small town with few neighbors and with some dust, with her or his sisters. As we sang it in class it was funny and with rhythm I kind of imagine the situation and the rhythm it that time. The author describes one day in the life of the character.
The character is waiting for her/his mom to take him/her to mainline. At the same time someone is preparing tortillas and beans. This is a humble family.

The Swimmer
This story is very weird. There are a lot of strange things like swimming from pool to pool, the neighbors, the weather, and how Neddy changes throughout the story. The whole story is about alcoholism and how it affects people. This is a a complex story full of symbols.
I like this story because it makes you connect all the symbols with the main theme. The weather is a great symbol because it changes from hot and summer style to windy and cold at the end of the story. Every pool represents a stage in Neddy's life, and the blackouts he had. I would like to read more stories like this.

I knew a woman
I didn't like this poem, from my point of view it is very sexual. Even though, that is not my style, it is nice how the author expresses his feelings to her in such a textual way. The author mentions that she is younger. And that she has taught him a lot of things. It is a poem full of images and metaphors.
It was the first time I read a poem like that. It is interesting because the author makes it easy to understand, even he makes us think that it is easy to write something like that. It is clear he liked a lot that woman he knew.

A rose for Emily
I liked a lot this story. The story is full of clues so that you can infer the ending, but the ending is amazing, is something I never think of. Also, the story criticizes the society and all the gossips there are in a small town. It is such a good story.
First, you only know that her father has died and that she can't accept it, and that she doesn't want to change anything is her life. Then, she meets Homer, her love, but it is know that he is gay, then she buys arsenic and he disappears. The ending is a huge surprise and a little bit scary. The story involves a lot of topics like over protection, gossips and the undesired to change.

Song to Myself
I liked this poems by Walt Whitman. There are like a recompilation of all the moments the author passed through. Some are of happiness, others talked about betrays, and some of freedom. Every poem is written in free verse and expresses an idea, easy to understand.
I read the poem number 28, and it talked about a betray that has happened in his life. He describes exactly the way he felt, and you can even feel the same. I think that all are good poems because he transmits exactly what he wants.

The Crucible
I didn't like this movie. First of all, it made me angry how all the town believed the lies of the girls who determine who was innocent and who wasn't. Second, all the idea of the story I think it was silly. And third, I didn't like the end, I was expecting for something more interesting.
Even though, the movie has a lot of values and messages it isn't one of my favorites. Only I liked the part when the priest or the judge decided not to kill the wife of another believer, and tells to Abigail that she is wrong. Because he thinks that the "good ones" are untouchable. That was my favorite part.
